Below you will find a description of each type of application that is included in Undergraduate Studies at CSU. Each application that is submitted requires a non-refundable application fee of $40. Once an application is submitted, it will be considered incomplete until all required items are received. An applicant who has an application fee waiver may print the application here

Admission decisions at Columbus State are made on a rolling basis which means that we accept and examine applications as they are sent in, instead of waiting to judge all applications at once. Each semester does have an application and supporting documentation deadline and those are listed below:

Application Deadlines

Freshman

Traditional Freshman Student - students who have graduated high school within the last 5 years and have less than 30 transferable college credit hours or no college credit hours.

  • Submit application along with $40 non-refundable application fee

  • Official SAT and/or ACT scores
  • Homeschool applicants should submit the Supplemental Homeschool Application (PDF) along with the above mentioned items.
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence

Transfer

Transfer Students - students who have attended another college or university and are transferring their credit hours to Columbus State University. Students with even only 1 college credit hour are considered transfer students.

  • Submit application along with $40 non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
  • Transfer students who have not earned 30 or more transferable hours of credit are considered to be Freshman Transfer students and must submit Official SAT and/or ACT scores as well as an Official Final High School Transcript
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence

Move On When Ready

Move On When Ready (MOWR) - is Georgia's new dual enrollment program that allows high school students to earn college credit while working on their high school diploma.

  • Submit application
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official SAT and/or ACT scores
  • Move On When Ready Participation Agreement
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence

Adult Learners

Adult Learners or Non-traditional students - students who graduated high school more than 5 years ago and are applying with no previous college credit hours.

  • Submit application along with $40 non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcripts or GED
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence
  • ACCUPLACER exam
    • The ACCUPLACER exam is a placement exam that measures skills in English, reading, and math. More information can be found by visiting the Columbus State Testing Center website.
    • All nontraditional applicants must meet the following minimum scores on the ACCUPLACER exam in order to be admitted:
    • Writing: 32
    • Reading: 62
    • Math: 20
    • Non-traditional students may submit SAT/ACT test scores in place of the ACCUPLACER exam if the scores are not older than 7 years
    • Non-traditional students with the following transferable courses from an accredited institution may be exempt taking the ACCUPLACER in the appropriate area:
      • English 1101 or 1102 with a grade of C or better will exempt ACCUPLACER in Reading and Writing.
      • Any 1000 level Area A math with a grade of C or better will exempt ACCUPLACER in Math.

Transient

Transient Students - students who are enrolled in one college or university and would like to complete courses temporarily (1 semester within an academic year) at Columbus State University.

  • Submit an application along with a $40 application fee
  • Submit a transient permission form signed by the Registrar or other designated official of your current institution approving enrollment for one term as a Transient student.
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence

Post-Baccalaureate Student


Post-Baccalaureate Student – students who have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution may enroll under the classification of post-baccalaureate student. There are three categories to apply as an undergraduate Post-Baccalaureate student: Degree Seeking, Non-Degree seeking, and Teacher Certification.

  • Submit an application along with a $40 application fee
  • Submit an official transcript from the institution that conferred the baccalaureate degree. Other transcripts may be requested if needed.
  • Submit a copy of your immunization record and a form of lawful presence

Returning to Columbus State

Returning students refers to students who have previously attended CSU and would like to be readmitted.

  • All former students seeking to re-enroll into Columbus State must complete an application for Readmission.
  • Official transcripts from any school that you have attended since you last enrolled at Columbus State must be submitted.

Note for out of state students

If you live outside of the State of Georgia, your distance education options may be limited. To find out whether Columbus State University is authorized to deliver a specific program in your state, please email the State Authorization office at state_authorization@columbusstate.edu. This email address is exclusively for questions regarding state and licensing board approvals.

Also Note:

CSU can NOT guarantee that licensure, certification, or endorsement programs will necessarily satisfy the criteria of professional boards in states other than Georgia. Students who are considering a professional program, and who intend to seek employment outside of Georgia, should contact the appropriate board in their state of intended practice prior to beginning a course of study.
